Atlas Update

Loaded with lumber and ready for the Oswego Canal

It’s Monday morning, July 26th. The Oswego Canal is still closed (it’s been almost 2 weeks of closure). We’ve struck out on our mission to make our waiting around valuable by repairing the generator. Thankfully we’ve found ourselves in gorgeous Waupoos and have managed to be on anchor for 4 nights so far. We’re happy and trying to take deep breaths. Some of you have reached out with some really fantastic advice. “Triple T” is my favorite so far, TTT, Things Take Time. Easy to remember and completely true. And I can use it almost like a profanity! While it doesn’t calm me as much as “fuck” does, “Triple T” reminds me that Things Take Time and to calm the fuck down.

So our current plan is to meet up with the Nords aboard Grey Ghost here in Waupoos to receive our dinghy seats. We then plan to head to Oswego tomorrow or Wednesday pending weather and an encouraging canal forecast from the social media coconut telegraph. While I hate Facebook it has been incredibly helpful to Melissa in sussing out the status of the water in the Canal. We’re also thankful we’re not one of the poor souls who have been trapped between locks for 13 days.

So things are pretty great aboard Atlas this morning. Another gorgeous morning at a spectacular anchorage. The family’s blood pressure is very low and spirits are high. We’re heading over to Waupoos Island (aka Sheep Island) shortly for a dog walk and to watch/listen to all of the sheep. We hope our next update will come from the USA. Thanks for following along and please say hello in the comments.
