Oliver got his turn, and now, I interview four-year-old Elliott to get his thoughts on our upcoming trip. Overall, and in typical Elliott fashion, he’s happy to be here! I hope to continue these once we get going, as I’m guessing (hoping!) they’ll have even more to say.

Mom: I’m sitting here with Elliott Hill, 4 years old, on June 2, 11 am and we are sitting on the boat in Toronto and we’re about six weeks away from leaving. Elliott, how are you feeling today?

Elliott: Good.

Mom: How are you feeling about the trip?

Elliott: Good.

Mom: Are you excited?

Elliott: Yep.

Mom: Are you feeling nervous about anything?

Elliott: Nope.

Mom: Good. What are you most excited about on the trip? What are you most excited to do?

Elliott: See the Smithsonian Air Force Base.

Mom: Smithsonian? Yeah. Anything military you’re excited about.

Elliott (whispering off the record…): The base where that submarine and that aircraft carrier…

Mom: Oh yeah, Elliott’s saying he’s excited about Charleston, SC where there’s a submarine and an aircraft carrier and a warship we can go take a tour of. You’re excited about that?

Elliott: Yeah.

Mom: I’m excited about that, too. That sounds really interesting. That’ll be a fun place to visit. Is there anything else you’re excited about?

Elliott: Um, the Statue of Liberty.

Mom: Ooo, that’ll be cool, seeing the Statue of Liberty! That’s good. I’m excited to see that with you. Anything else?

Elliott: And, um, going through the Potomac. Are we actually going to do that?

Mom: Yeah, I think we’re going to actually go up the Potomac River to Washington, D.C. That’ll be pretty neat, huh? And is there anything you’re going to miss while we’re gone?

Elliott: No.

Mom: You’re just happy to be on the boat?

Elliott: Yeah.

Mom: You going to keep in touch with any of your friends while we’re gone?

Elliott: Yeah.

Mom: Who are you going to keep in touch with?

Elliott: Calvin.

Mom: Anyone else? Just Cal?

Elliott: Just Cal.
